Lead Guitar and Vocals
Love this band and its members; Bails (bass) and I have been playing together since 1988, met Gary (guitar) in 2003 through our wives, found Joe (drums) through Craigslist in 2005, and Jennifer, who I saw play in the Zen Tricksters in the early 80’s, joined the band and hooked us up with Rich (keys) about 4-5 years ago. And now I am living the dream!”

My love for the music of the Grateful Dead inspired me to play guitar when I was in high school. In 1979, my good friend Jonathan Spitz handed me a beat up nylon string acoustic and showed me a few chords and I haven’t stopped playing since. I have been very lucky over the years to find great friends to play music with. My Far Rockaway, NY high school buddies, my SUNY Albany college buddies (www.deadstein.com), and then to meeting Bails, Gary, Joe, Jen and Rich all of whom who share my love for the jam band style of music and have become great friends.
I crave the sound of a single coil pick-up fed into an old Fender Twin Reverb amp.
There was nothing about it that I didn’t like. A lot. What most impressed me is that each player captures that, real as it is indefinable, slice of the vibe and general sensibility of the great players being emulated. I really enjoyed Jack S. There was a looseness and un-polished aspect to the performance that captured really well that ability the Dead had to be musically nonchalant, in a brilliant way. And the strat tone was great throughout and impeccable at times. Well done. – RiseandFall on Rukind.com
